[Bad news] TBS gets publicly criticized by reporter Hotta — Co-rep Fujita bursts out laughing at an unexpected question Reporter Hotta questions Co-rep Fujita Opening with: “Regarding this abstract video” ↓ He brings up an exchange with a weekly magazine executive “Basically, ‘Let’s stop with the overblown titles already’” ↓ Then suddenly cites TBS by name as an example “TBS did that thing on its flagship show, on Hodo Tokushu — like, without Nafsa, it’ll collapse in June, right? Doing something overblown and getting no results at all If it meant ratings went up or books sold, that’d be fine, but it doesn’t scale with that at all, does it?” ↓ Then, straight at Co-rep Fujita: “Do you have any hope that they’d do a bit more proper reporting?” A direct pitch ↓ Co-rep Fujita can’t hold back his laugh either “I do sometimes think it’d be nice if everyone were sensible reporters like you, Hotta-san, and people like you all” he replies ↓ And at the end: “Thank you. What’s with you today? Did something happen?” —and the room lightens up Naming TBS and going as far as “overblown” “no results at all” “doesn’t scale proportionally” is quite the public execution Hotta-san was absolutely furious about Hodo Tokushu
